Official Introduction Key Points

  1. What’s a draw-along song?
  2. In Japan, kids grow up with ekaki-uta, or “draw-along songs.” You sing along, and each line tells you what to draw: a circle here, a couple of lines there. Keep going to the end, and your scribbles turn into a picture.
  3. Kids usually know the song, and the answer, by heart. In Drawaoke, every song is brand new, the subject stays hidden until the very last line, and everyone draws at the same time. It stops being a kids’ game. It becomes a puzzle.
  4. The song won’t tell you where, or what (not until the last line)
  5. Everyone hears the same draw-along song and draws at the same time. But the song won’t name the subject until its very last line.
  6. The song won’t say “now draw the hand.” All you get are lines like these:
  7. ♪ There’s a great big round balloon that’s floating gently to the sky—
  8. ♪ And a little dancing ribbon hangs below and sways to and fro.
