Ten years is a long time for a licensed arena fighter to stay alive — and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is not just alive, it is throwing a party. Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Dimps confirmed (via Gematsu, reporting on the October 25, 2026 announcement) that the game’s 10th anniversary update goes live October 27, 2026, exactly ten years after the Windows version first launched (consoles arrived two days earlier, on October 25, 2016).
What the Anniversary Update Adds (October 27)
The free October 27 update is the headline, but it is only the first beat. Per the official announcement quoted by Gematsu, the patch brings:
- New Login Bonus Rewards for returning and active players.
- Special Costumes added to the wardrobe.
- An update to the Gallery of Time, unlocked by owning the downloadable content “Future Saga Chapter 4.”
These are the confirmed, free additions shipping on launch day. The bigger celebration starts three days later.
The Final Festival Begins October 30
The Final Festival — officially the Final Festival of Universes — opens October 30, 2026 and is the heart of the 10th-anniversary celebration. According to the official wording reported by Gematsu:
“During this global celebration of the game, hard-to-find items will return, along with some special items that can unlock rewards for the upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.”
Inside the Final Festival, players can:
- Raise camaraderie with one of three companions — Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time, or Fu — to unlock special illustrations.
- Earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual, making the in-game economy dramatically easier to spend on rewards.
- Reclaim hard-to-obtain items that previously left the rotation.
- Earn a new Gi (martial-arts robe) made for the occasion, plus a commemorative medal.
Anniversary Rewards Carry Into Xenoverse 3
The cleverest part of the celebration is its bridge to the future. Per the announcement:
“Possessing either of the items will allow you to unlock special items, depending on the item you own, in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 by linking your Bandai Namco ID, once the game becomes available in 2027.”
In other words, the Gi and commemorative medal you earn in the 2026 Final Festival become unlockables in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 once it launches in 2027 — as long as your Bandai Namco ID is linked. It is a direct incentive to show up for the anniversary now and reap a benefit in the sequel later. A new 10th anniversary trailer (available in both English and Japanese) accompanies the announcement.
Why Xenoverse 2 Lasted a Decade
The game’s longevity is unusual for its genre. Launched in October 2016 by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Xenoverse 2 turned its Conton City hub into a persistent Dragon Ball clubhouse: create a Time Patroller, train under mentors, and relive (and rewrite) the series’ biggest battles. Wikipedia’s DLC history counts roughly 20 content packs — from the early Super packs through the Hero of Justice and Future Saga chapters to 2024’s DAIMA pack — plus a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrade in May 2024.
That drip-feed kept a single release selling for a decade: the game passed 10 million copies sold by May 2023, an exceptional figure for a licensed fighter. The current platform list spans PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
And Then Xenoverse 3
The anniversary lands with a sequel already on the horizon: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is planned for 2027. That makes this week’s update less a farewell and more a handoff — ten years of Conton City, one last celebration, and a new chapter a year away. Thanks to the Bandai Namco ID link, the celebration’s loot will literally travel with you.

Ten years of Xenoverse 2 and it still pulls me back into Conton City. 20 DLC packs later this is easily the best-supported Dragon Ball game ever made. Happy anniversary to Dimps.
The October 27 anniversary update is the perfect excuse to reinstall. 10 million copies sold tells you this was never just a licensed cash grab, the mentor training loop is genuinely deep.
Anniversary update now, Xenoverse 3 in 2027. Bandai Namco is threading the needle perfectly. My custom Saiyan is ready for one last grind before the sequel.
